Driveway Repair

This driveway was 15 years old by the time I got around to fixing it. It was uneven due to ants infesting it and plant roots moving the pavers. Heavy vehicles parking partly on the edge of the pavers had also caused the edges to sink. I had to do something. At this point, it was also bordering on a potential legal issue. Did you know that if someone visiting your property, such as the postman or a delivery driver, trips on a dangerous defect in your driveway and gets injured, you could potentially be liable? It isn’t as simple as there being a particular number of millimetres that makes a driveway illegal, but as the person responsible for the property, you have a duty to take reasonable care to keep visitors reasonably safe. The state of your entranceway can also have an impact on the value and desirability of your property.

Why don’t I use Wi-Fi?

When ‘playing’ with networks, you’ll soon discover that everything just works better when it’s got a cable attached to it, and Wi-Fi is fine until you’re doing something remotely professional. It may seem old-fashioned, but making your own Ethernet cables, wall sockets and keystone jacks is the backbone of a great network. Plus, it keeps your gear looking tidy when you learn to cut them to the right length.

The PSP is arguably one of the best looking handheld consoles ever made. It was designed by a team lead by Shinichi Ogasawara not as a toy but as a handheld multimedia device and I think at the time it serves that purpose brilliantly. But how do they fair in 2026 especially since physical media has all but dissapeared?

There’s a part of any home network, especially in the UK, that not many people talk about. That’s Powerline adapters. Powerline adapters are little devices that use the existing power cables that zig-zag through your walls as network cables (admittedly inefficient ones). The great advantage about this is you don’t have to have trip hazards all over your home, just another wall-wart and a short Ethernet lead to your device!

Lenovo is a fantastic company. Not only do they make great computers, they look like they come straight out of an episode of Knight Rider, and to be honest, that’s not a bad thing. There is something timeless and futuristic about angular design with flashing lights and silver trim that really engages my inner kid.

One of my earliest qualifications was an AMA (Advanced Modern Apprenticeship) in brickwork. My father used to tell me that computers were just a fad, and I was subsequently banned from having anything to do with them. In my family, coding was considered hacking, and anything involving accounts was supposed to be done on paper in my “books”.
